Congratulations Justine Durr – Our January CrossFitter of the Month!

**CONGRATULATIONS JUSTINE DURR! Our January CrossFitter of the Month!**

About Justine:

What a way to start out 2016. Crossfitter of the Month? I promise you, my reign will be unlike any other.

As I sat trying to determine what to write, I wondered, what can I do to assist future CFOMs? Writing in general can be arduous, but writing about yourself can be even worse. I decided to reread what previous CFOM had stated about themselves and found that a good CFOM blurb contains the following elements. You’re welcome.

1. Begin by thanking the coaches: Thank you so much to all of the coaches, but especially the ones who decided to make me CFOM. Congratulations. You’ve made an excellent decision. I can’t express how thankful I am that you are all so accommodating to me during basketball. In a season where I hardly have enough time to grocery shop you always help me to fit in my fitness.

2. Be humble. Say words like “wow,” “shocked,” honored” to express that you really did not see this coming: Wow. I am absolutely amazed to be chosen as the CFOM for January. This is such a surprise. I’m astonished!
a. If you google synonyms for “surprised” that can assist you as well.

3. Talk about your “CrossFit journey” (which I think is why you joined/stayed): I’ll never forget driving home from work one day and realizing that a CrossFit opened up across the street. I immediately called the phone number listed and spoke to Rob about joining. He, of course, mocked my excitement, but three years later I’m still just as exhilarated when walking through the doors.
a. Here you also may want to mention what amazing, supportive people you’ve met at CFW: I can’t believe what amazing, supportive people are at Crossfit Wallingford. Whether I’m the first one done with the WOD or the last one finished there’s always someone cheering me on. There is, however, a small percentage that tells me to “be better” and to “get focused” but I just ignore those voices.
b. Don’t forget to mention your favorite class/CF Bestie: A big shout out to my 5:30pm peeps! Also to 6:30pm, 4:30pm, and the occasional 6:30am, 9:30am, and 12:30pm! Sorry 5:30am. You are just too early for me. Also, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my CF Bestie. Thanks for being an overachiever and pushing me out of my reign of mediocrity.

4. Speak about something emotional: Well, you got me here. I cried reading the last book of Harry Potter, but I have been extremely lucky in my life and feel very fortunate at my lack of hardships. There was one occasion where my father told me if I took basketball half as seriously as I take CrossFit I wouldn’t have been a water girl in college; I would have played. Well, that stung. First of all, I was a Division 1 Hydration Specialist. Secondly,I had the opportunity to study under one of the most successful coaches of all time while traveling the US, staying in amazing hotels, and eating incredible cuisine on someone else’s dime. Also, because of the connections I made with that program, my father attended multiple college basketball games and also went to the Final 4 and Championship games in Tampa for free last year. So, respectfully, suck it, Dad.

5. Say thank you one final time: In all sincerity, thank you to all the coaches who pushed me when I needed a push, backed off when I needed my space, humored me when I corrected *there* grammar (see, I can make jokes), and made me feel welcome each and every time I walked through the door.

**Congratulations, Justine! Your enthusiasm from Day 1 has been appreciated by the CFW community! You always give your best and we are so glad you are one of our original CFW members!**
