CONGRATULATIONS SCOTT DEANS! Our February CrossFitter of the Month!

**Scott Deans**
*February 2017 Crossfitter of the Month*

Thank you for choosing me as CFW’s Crossfitter of the month. I wouldn’t have guessed that I would be selected so soon. I feel that I’m just getting started. I’m a huge proponent of recognition in my part time job (Coast Guard Reserve) and to be recognized here is heartfelt. Acknowledgment of hard work is inspirational and a cue to keep pushing harder.
I joined CFW in December of 2015. My kids had been coming to CFW for a few years during the winter months and their results were very apparent. I always considered joining in the back of my mind, but was unsure if I could or would commit. I’m glad I made the choice I did. Prior to CFW, my primary exercise routine was running. I wouldn’t consider myself an avid runner, but it was the one fitness activity I did the most frequently. I never really did any weight lifting and I was surprised how much it was a part of Crossfit. It was rough in the beginning, the intial soreness, the occasional back pain from “rounding” and waking up at 5am to get to a class. With patience and persistence, I felt myself able to do more movements and lift a little more weight. While I initially attended the 5:30 AM class because of my schedule, I found that the afternoon classes let me excel.
The CFW experience has been great!Whether it is the highly motivating coaches or my fellow Crossfitters cheering me and others on, I feel welcome and encouraged. It feels like you’re not alone through your journey. I’ve summed it up to be a “love/hate” relationship. I look forward to and love the WODs when their posted and once in it…, well that’s not always the thoughts going through my mind. It hasn’t stopped me from coming back yet, I guess I’m hooked just like everyone else.
I look forward to my future here at CFW. I want to show my wife and kids that I am dedicated to fitness and a healthy lifestyle. My doctor says my blood pressure is great and to keep doing what I’m doing, “it’s working”. I hope to participate more in CFW challenges and competitions to push myself harder. Thanks CFW, you’ve been a true fit for me!
Congratulations to Scott for CFW member of the month. Even though it’s only been a little over a year since you’ve started your progress is evident. You are always coming in early to stretch and staying after to work on movements. The coaches notice your drive when completing the WOD and are jealous of your signature headband…. 😉 keep up the great work and keep pushing ahead!!
